Frequently asked questions.

General

What is Curate You?

Curate You is a virtual coaching + therapy platform designed to help you heal, reclaim your power, and intentionally design a life that feels aligned. We offer both coaching and therapy services, depending on what you’re seeking.

How do coaching and therapy differ here?

  • Therapy supports you in healing emotional wounds, working through distress, processing the past, and addressing mental health concerns (e.g. anxiety, depression, trauma).

  • Coaching is more future- and goal-focused. It’s for individuals who are functioning well but want help leveling up, clarifying direction, gaining accountability, etc. Therapy is about diagnosing, processing, healing; coaching is about goals, momentum, and growth.

  • Note: We accept insurance only for therapy, not for coaching.

Are sessions in-person or virtual?

All sessions—whether therapy or coaching—are held virtually (via secure video). We do not offer in-person appointments.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — but only for therapy (not coaching).
We accept:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (PPO)

  • Aetna

If you have one of these plans and your policy covers telehealth therapy, we can submit claims on your behalf (or provide super-bills for you to submit, depending on the plan).

Do you accept insurance for coaching sessions?

No. Coaching is not a mental health treatment, so insurance does not cover coaching through Curate Yourself. Coaching sessions are self-pay.

What if my insurance is not BCBS PPO or Aetna?

If your insurance is not in-network with us (or not in those two), you may either:

  1. Use out‑of-network benefits (if your plan allows), by submitting a super-bill (an invoice you can send to your insurance)

  2. Pay out-of-pocket for therapy sessions

  3. Pursue coaching and self-pay

  4. See one of our interns for a lower cost sliding scale

If you’re unsure whether your plan covers virtual therapy or allows out-of-network reimbursement, we can help you check.

What are your rates and payment methods?

  • Coaching rates can be found here and out-of-network therapy rates are $150 per session.

  • Payment is collected electronically (credit/debit card, or other e‑payment options) prior to or on the day of the session.

  • For therapy using in-network insurance, co-pays, coinsurance, or deductibles may apply, depending on your specific plan.

Booking, Sessions & Cancellation

How do I schedule a session?

You can book directly through our website here or request a free clarity call / consultation. Once you’re onboarded, you’ll receive a link to schedule virtual appointments.

What platform do you use?

We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform through our EHR called Theraplatform. Instructions and secure links are emailed to you ahead of each session.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

  • You can cancel or reschedule via your client portal or via email.

  • We ask for 24 hours’ notice to avoid being charged for the session.

  • If cancellations occur within less than 24 hours or no-shows, you may be responsible for the full session fee (except in emergencies—please reach out).

What if there’s a technical issue during a session?

If video fails, we can switch to phone. If the session becomes untenable, we can reschedule or allocate a make-up, depending on time left and availability.

Confidentiality, Licensure & Ethics

Is our conversation confidential?

Yes. All clinical therapy is governed by professional ethical standards and HIPAA-equivalent protections. Coaching engagements also maintain client confidentiality within reason (except in mandated reporting or where there is risk of harm).

Are your therapists licensed?

Yes. Any professional providing therapy services at Curate You is a licensed mental health clinician in their jurisdiction. You may ask for their license number, credentials, or state of licensure at any time.

What about crisis or emergencies?

Curate You is not a crisis hotline. If you are in danger, thinking about harming yourself or others, or in an emergency, please call 911 or your local emergency services immediately. You can also contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988).

If you are already a client and in crisis between sessions, reach out to your local resources; your therapist may also provide referrals.

What to Expect & Other Questions

How long is a session?

Typical session length is 45–60 minutes, depending on your plan and what you agree upon with your provider.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends entirely on your goals, the issues you’re working on, and your pace. Some people feel meaningful shifts after a few sessions; others choose ongoing support over longer periods. Coaching tends to be more structured/time-limited; therapy may be longer if deep healing is involved.

Can I switch from coaching to therapy or vice versa?

Yes, absolutely. If you initially engage in coaching and later feel you need therapy (or vice versa), we can discuss transitioning you to the appropriate track. Your progress and safety are primary.

Do you work with certain age groups or populations?

We primarily work with ages 8 and up. Please check our provider bios for any specialties or population focuses (e.g. women’s issues, life transitions, trauma, etc.).

How do I know if therapy or coaching is right for me?

If you are experiencing emotional distress, symptoms of a mental health condition, or trauma, therapy is likely the appropriate path. If you are already functioning well and seeking growth, clarity, action steps, or accountability, coaching may be a good fit. We can help you determine this in a free clarity call.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule without charge. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur the full session fee. Please see our Terms & Conditions or client agreement for details.

Can I get a receipt or invoice for insurance?

Yes — for therapy (not coaching), we can provide a super-bill or detailed invoice that you can submit to your insurance if needed.
